This policy explains the services, content, and conduct that are allowed and prohibited on Gigs. It applies to all Buyers, Sellers, guests, and other users of the Gigs app, website, and related services.
Marketplace purpose
Gigs is an in-person services marketplace in South Africa. It is not a general classified ads platform, adult services platform, goods marketplace, gambling platform, financial services platform, medical services platform, or delivery/logistics platform.
Allowed categories
At launch, Sellers may only offer services that clearly fall within approved Gigs categories:
- Photography
- Tutoring
- Female Beauty
- Male Grooming
Prohibited services
- Illegal services or services that help another person break the law.
- Adult, sexual, escort, companionship-for-payment, or explicit content services.
- Drugs, controlled substances, weapons, explosives, gambling, betting, or related promotion.
- Medical, clinical, psychological, emergency, surgical, financial, lending, insurance, investment, debt-collection, or legal advisory services.

- Services involving minors in a way that is unsafe, exploitative, unsupervised, or inappropriate.

- Any service outside the categories Gigs has approved for the marketplace.
Prohibited conduct
- Fake accounts, impersonation, or misrepresentation of identity, age, qualifications, experience, location, service category, or pricing.
- False ID, selfie, payout, bank, booking, or verification information.
- Harassment, threats, abuse, stalking, intimidation, sexual harassment, or discrimination.
- Fraud, scams, phishing, money laundering, chargeback abuse, refund abuse, payment abuse, fake bookings, fake reviews, or fake no-show reports.
- Circumventing safety, verification, moderation, payment, payout, review, or dispute controls.
- Representing cash bookings as Paystack-processed bookings or claiming that Paystack guarantees, protects, or settles cash payments.
- Illegal, misleading, explicit, violent, hateful, defamatory, or infringing content.
- Bots, scraping, malware, reverse engineering, unauthorised access, or activity that disrupts or harms the platform.
Seller verification
At launch, Gigs performs internal provider review before a Seller profile can go live. This may include collecting and reviewing profile information, ID/selfie verification materials, payout account details, service/category information, and marketplace risk signals. Gigs does not currently claim to perform external background checks on every Seller.
Enforcement
Gigs may take action where activity creates safety, fraud, payment, legal, reputational, or compliance risk, including:
- Rejecting or removing services, content, images, reviews, or messages.
- Warning, restricting, suspending, blocking, or terminating accounts.
- Cancelling bookings or preventing Seller marketplace visibility.
- Holding, delaying, reversing, refunding, or reviewing payment-related activity where allowed by law, payment processor rules, and platform policy.
- Requesting additional information or verification.
- Reporting serious misconduct to payment partners, banks, law enforcement, regulators, or other relevant parties where appropriate.
